“Sometimes I get tired. …. I Pulled back on the theology and philosophy that I had just studied in the universities… but the answer didn’t quite come there.” The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

“Dear School Principals
I am writing to bring to your attention two exceptional future school counselors from my graduate course. They have developed effective strategies to support your school’s English Language Learners (ELL) and at-risk students. The students who participated in my Wilmington University Graduate School Counseling Course, Counselors as a Consultant, have created two solutions named “Express Learning” and “Mindful Men.” They would like to present these to you and your staff. I am confident that you will find their plans helpful in addressing the needs of your students. Thank you for considering their proposals. Sincerely, Lavern Clayton Washington”

And that you have carried the AFRA flag beyond the University of Delaware campus. We remain grateful for all of your efforts and continued commitment to AFRA.” Dr. Maloba. Africana Studies, Chair.

“My job has impacted my family and household by bringing food to the table when we don’t have it. Also, I help my grandmother with bills when I can. My job has impacted me by being able to save money for college or a car. I am very grateful that I got a job.”

“I wish to take this opportunity to appreciate all of you and in particular, our Professor Dr. Washington for the excellent class he instructed this ending summer semester. It was a challenging class with a lot to learn in 5 weeks. I would urge all of us to ask our student fraternity to consider enrolling in this class. A lot is to be learned, especially on the plight of families from the minority and the challenges they face with their children in public schools. This was one of the best classes in my recent semesters, and I finished it.”

“Let me know if you got the email. Thanks again for the words of encouragement, I’m definitely looking forward to starting a career as a school counselor as soon as possible. You have empowered me, and I feel I am a better counselor and person because of your class; it helped provide some personal reflection. Please keep me top of mind if you ever have any information or resources you are looking to share and with your blessing, I will keep in touch and reach out to you from time to time for some of your invaluable insight. Thank you again, for all you have done and will do. Take care and stay blessed.”
